Historic Mission San Juan Capistrano
Founded in 1776 as the seventh California mission by Saint Junipero Serra, Mission San Juan Capistrano welcomes over 300,000 visitors annually.

Mission San Juan Capistrano was founded on November 1, 1776, by Junipero Serra, who led the mission from San Diego personally. It became the seventh of twenty-one missions established in Alta California, built on a site chosen for its fresh water, arable land, and proximity to the Juaneno people whom the padres sought to convert. The mission quickly became a center of activity: by 1806, records show over 1,000 people living at the mission and working in farming, herding, candle- and soap-making, and other crafts.
The Serra Chapel, built in 1782, still stands as California's only remaining chapel where Junipero Serra himself celebrated Mass. The Eucharist continues to be celebrated daily in this chapel, a tradition unbroken for centuries. The mission is operated by a non-profit organization and welcomes roughly 1.6 million visitors over recent years to see its exhibits of historic and religious artifacts, walk its gardens, and take part in the annual tradition of the swallows' return, which became nationally known after a live NBC broadcast in 1939.
For a family whose life is rooted in a community like San Juan Capistrano, where tradition and place matter, planning ahead takes on meaning. A term policy protects the years when your household would be most vulnerable—when there's a mortgage, dependent children, or other obligations that income covered. Comparing quotes at each stage of life, rather than guessing, keeps coverage matched to what actually matters to you.
